It was the evening of 27th October 2022 and after a long and tiring day, I was looking forward to watching the cricket world cup match between India and Netherlands at Sydney Cricket ground. My friend Nasim had brought the tickets and this was the 2nd live match I was going to watch.
I reached Central station and got out to change trains and the visuals were just amazing. I could see all the Indian fans wearing Indian team jerseys along with family, and kids and ready to onboard the train to Moore Park station. The platform was overcrowded and there was no place to stand. It reminded me of Mumbai local trains and the enthusiasm was very electric. This was the 1st instance of positive energy I experienced that evening closely.
We reached the Moore station and within a few minutes, we were at the SCG. I cannot explain the atmosphere. It was a celebration within the stadium and Indian flags all over. That night, the whole match, I might have heard only Indian songs with around 95% of the supporters for the Indian Team.
Watching the heroes of the Indian National team live was another level and when the national anthem was played it gave me goosebumps. I was missing home some time back and suddenly it felt like home! I salute the fans who regularly go and watch the Indian team play in different parts of the world and the way the cheering and chanting go for every 4 and 6 scored or a wicket of the opposition team falls is unbelievable.
Thank you Team India for giving this joy, energy, and live entertainment day in and day out whenever you plan. It’s not at all easy to perform at your best every moment or every match but giving your 100% when you are on the field makes you a true sportsperson. The time spent at SCG made me again a fan of this game and felt privileged to witness the game live.
Something that I took with me that day:
Energy Shift – Sometimes it’s important for us to move out of a routine or low-feeling mindset to a more positive state of mind. I call it breaking the cycle or pattern by moving to a zone that has more positive energy. This is what exactly happened to me when I went and watched the match with so much positive energy in the stadium.
Live in the moment – We need to live in the moment and not worry too much about past or future. It helps us enjoy and focus completely on the task at hand rather than worrying about something that you cannot do right now.
Work Life Balance – Taking a break from your regular routine and doing something different that helps shift the energy is important for that work-life balance. Break that RUT to break that pattern helps to relax and refocus. For some, it would be watching a sport or movie or playing a musical instrument or going for a run or dancing or exercising, or spending time with loved ones.
Thank you, Nasim & family, Team India, fabulous fans, and Sydney for this memorable evening. Let me know your thoughts.
